In Lalitpur District Children for Green New Nepal organised a whole day's activities for the Global Day of Action on 12th December, with 3,000 + participants.

Also in Katmandhu on the Global Day of Action on Climate Change (December 12), the National Climate Action Rally was organized with the objective to attract global attraction creating pressure on the UNFCCC COP15/CMP5 decisions. The rally was inaugurated by Former Minister, MoEST, Ganesh Shah, started from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) - rounded Tudikhel – and back to NTB. On the Inauguration ceremony of the program, Former Minister emphasized the need of immense discussion on climate change in the national level. He also emphasized on the climate justice for developing and underdeveloped countries having low National Carbon Footprints. Similarly Dr. Jay Kumar Gurung, President of HIMCCA suggested the developed countries for reducing their GHG emissions. The Secretary of EFN, Parshu Ram Gaihre requested public to adopt eco friendly behavior in daily life.
Around 400 participants from different organizations including Youth in Climate Action and ICIMOD, HIMCCA, SEED-Nepal, CEPHED, SUN-Nepal, SMCRF, CAS-Nepal, TU, CDES, CDHM, CDP, St. Lawrence College, NIST, NEC, SchEMS, Himalayan Academy, Tri-Chandra Campus, ESA, SOM, DKT, Sahid Gangalal Hospital etc. and the leading medias from Nepal attained the street demonstration program.Event III:

For 12th December Eco Friends-Nepal (EFN) and the Climate Change Coalition (3C) are organizing a \"RALLY\" Street Demonstration Program. The personnel from different leading Governmental agencies, NGOs, INGOs and other institutions working in the field of environment and climate change along with schools and colleges will be invited to participate in the RALLY (Street Demonstration) with the objective of attracting global attention. Musical performance on Global Day of Action: Climate Concert
To mark the Global Day of Action, a concert will be organized on December 12, 2009 in Kathmandu, with the participation of various pop stars and youth singers, coordinated by Nepalese Youth for climate Action with many other organizations. The main objective of this mass procession will be to sensitize the youths and locals about climate change and ongoing the global conference.It will also convey a symbolic message to the international community urging them to take immediate action for climate change. During the musical show, youths will be encouraged to use various innovative means of communication including chanting slogans, play cards, face painting, miking, pamphleting, models etc. to draw the attention of locals and media. In Kathmandu - Youth Activities
CGNN (Children for Green New Nepal) is cordinating with ACN (Akita Campus Net) Japan and other local organisations in Nepal to celebrate global day of climate action, organise a student rally, where rally with school Eco Clubs in schools and other youth organisations. A huge mandala will be made at Patan Durbar followed by candle lightining, open art competion will be organized with the theme "climate change impact" open for all local artists, arts will be exhibited at same day same place, CGNN's environmental music video and documentaries will be screened, live performance by various famous artists. In Everest base Camp
Base camp to Copenhagen
To mark the Global Day of Action, Clean Energy Nepal (CEN) and Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) are carrying out a “Basecamp to Copenhagen” Campaign where 10 youths will trek to Everest Basecamp. This campaign team will carry an awareness campaign to school students and local communities on climate change and its impacts on the Himalayas, mountain ecosystems and mountain livelihoods. Also this campaign team will collect signatures, make a documentary, and take photographs relating to climate change issues. At the end of the musical show, an award ceremony will be organized for the winners of various programs, from schools and colledges.

On 12th December Climate Action Volunteers - a youth led volunteering and networking organization acting to change climate change through community based action and other integrated approaches. - are organizing the event \"Sports for Climate\" in Biratnagar, Nepal with the objective of raising awareness amongst sportsmen and the general public about the significance of the international Climate Talks in Copenhagen. December 6th 2008 “RUN FOR THE CLIMATE”
In Nepal, the demonstration sorts out at three major cities, namely Kathmandu, Butwal and Pokhara.
In Kathmandu early morning more than 300 young people from different organization, students, media persons and local public gathered in Jawlekhel ground, Lalitpur. The groups with chanting the slogans about climate change along with artistic poster and banners go jogging towards historic city Basantapur Durbar square. Young people with banners and placards were the point of attraction in the capital city. After running for nearly 3 km in the city the group again gathered at the Basantapur to wrap-up the program. In the closing remarks, school student - Bidur Khadka, environmental professional Dhiraj Pradananga and environmentalist Bushan Tuladahar stressed about the initiative to be taken urgently against climate change. There was also show of street drama entitled “Climate Change: Time to act now” at the venue, more than 500 people join the drama show.

On December 8th 2007 about 3000 people joined in demonstrations in Kathmandu and Butwal city (Western Nepal) in solidarity with the International Call for the Demonstration on Climate Change. Students from schools and high schools, representatives of various governmental and non-governmental organizations, women's groups and community based organizations, flood victim societies, environmental activists and campaigners and general public attended the rallies. Butwal
The rally started from Puspalal Park at noon. It passed through Butwal city and ended at Butwal Multiple Campus and was inaugurated by Judge of District Appellate Court Mr. Surya Nath Joshi.
Play cards with the message to take immediate actions to 'STOP CLIMATE CHANGE', 'RATIFY KYOTO', 'SAVE EARTH for US and to OUR CHILDERN', 'SAVE EARTH for FUTURE GENERATIONS' and many others slogans were displayed and constantly chanted by participants in the demonstration.
Before that, inter high school level Art and Essay Competitions on the topic 'CLIMATE CHANGE and its CHALLENGES' were organized. Winners were awarded in the function after the rally.
Media in Butwal were very active in reporting the news of the event. An editorial was published in 'Butwal Daily' (Nepali newspaper) on CLIMATE CHANGE. Similarly, others daily had reported the programme. Radio stations continuously reported the various activities.
ldquo;There is a need to make people aware of the issues and challenges of CLIMATE CHANGE. In Nepal, discussion in CLIMATE CHANGE is limited to scholars and has never been in the public domain. So with this initiative CLIMATE again becomes a PUBLIC AFFAIR", said one of the participants.
